CDR-1323: SR Set: East Meets West

Man’s quest for exploration and adventure has long encouraged contacts between East and West. We look back at early encounters, beginning with Marco Polo traveling to China, Jesuit missionaries in Siam or Portuguese women in Goa. More recently, Impressionist painters were influenced by Japanese posters; and today, western architects are building in Shanghai and Dubai. The instant exchange of news and more rapid flow of trade and ideas support collaboration and globalization unimagined by merchants in Venice some 600 years ago. Jan/2014
