CDR-1330: SR Set: The Monuments Men

Much attention is currently given the Monuments Men with a movie about to be released and an exhibition just opened at the National Gallery of Art. This small--though elite--group of American and British art historians, conservators and restorers were entrusted to save, salvage, rescue and restore priceless works of art at the end of World War II that had been protected in situ, carted off, and hidden in secret locations for eventual personal gain or display in Hitler’s dream of a “Fuehrer Museum” in his hometown of Linz, Austria. This group of images illustrates some of the world’s greatest treasures saved from ultimate destruction.
